Two More Scarves

Another ruffle scarf, this time with Mode Vera Fishnet Fever, $6.00 at Spotlight and as good quality as any other. Thought I might actually try to knit a ruffle scarf with normal yarn , so found the Amazing Curly Scarf pattern here. Only 16 rows but ended up with 1280 stitches to cast off, took over two hours. Now to try a crochet ruffle, hopefully not as painful on the hands.

The pink is pinker in real life and there is purple among the browns in the second pic, if I wait till I can get decent light, I'll never post any pics especially with our weather here

More Results, more good news

So after nearly a month of tests, It seems the numbness in my finger and arm was probably due to a pinched nerve by tension in a muscle in my shoulder. I now also know I do not have a problem with arteries in my neck, my upper spine and neck are OK, my nerves in my arms are ok and apart from benign lumps in my thyroid and a couple of extra ribs ( both common) all is normal. Thank Goodness for Medicare that I could have all these tests without cost and thorough doctor.

Finished my 5th ruffle scarf, this time with a generic yarn more like ribbon , didn't even have a name in English on it, just that it was knitting yarn, did have diagrams on how to knit it though.

Good News

Got results back from a biopsy on a lump on my thyroid they found when doing tests to try and find out why i have some numbness in my finger.It's not uncommon for people to have lumps on their thyroid, but when they are over 1cm , they like to do a biopsy, mine was 1.1 cms. Most lumps are benign so it was unlikely to be bad result but weighs on your mind just the same. So got the all clear today.Consequently wasn't feeling the cheeriest last Thursday so decided instead of comfort food i would get comfort yarn. After a success of the first ruffle scarf decided they would be good mother's day gifts for my DD's godmother's. So dropped into the Wool Inn on my way to the car after work and bought two more balls of yarn, 2 different types. Then went what the heck I'll go down the road to Lincraft. There I bought another 8 balls of yarn to make ruffle scarves, of course about a quarter of the price, quality yet to be determined. So with that success headed to the other side of the shopping complex to Spotlight and bought some more ruffle yarn and some other fancy yarns that were on special, as my thoughts had extended to cushions as well as scarves for my stall i've been thinking about.So the godmother's scarves are done and now working on number 4 ruffle scarf.

My favourite purple with gold,was in spired to make this after attending a small market in St Marys on the weekend. There was a stall there with the usual baby stuff knit and crochet which was all lovely but has a limited appeal these days I think. So my thoughts have gone to scarves, berets, fingerless gloves etc. So with the euphoria that the creative moment brings went off to the Wool Inn Penrith and was confronted by masses of ruffle yarn. Been thinking of a few of these as gifts,so thought would try out one for myself given there was some yarn in my absolute favourite shade of purple. Has taken two evenings as seems a bit fiddly to start but with 7stitches and just being garter stitch is very quick. At the beginning was trying to get as close as possible to the edge of the tape which isn't necessary .So thoughts are of a little stall of trendy accessories, we'll see.Missed Super Macro Sunday,caught up thinking of ideas for the stall

So we've had heaps of rain and now beautiful sunny weather not too hot, but enough to be inudated with ripening beans, tomatoes, lettuce, spring onions and capsicums to name a few. Flowers blooming everywhere, baby birds chirping in their nests.Had a quiet but nice Christmas, followed by visits from a cousin from the UK and my brother up from Wodonga.My capelet coming along nicely although a bit of frogging has been done. Now up to pleats and only another 160 stitches to increase by to a total of 463.Wishing everyone a great 2012, especially those who been faced with loss and adversity in 2011, may your path be smoother and worries less

Struggling

Started the Burnham Wood Capelet to try and improve my concentration. As my attention/retention span seems to be about five seconds at the moment.Having to read some of the instructions about 20 times but feel like I'm grasping it now.Too much on my mind I think. Worrying about Christmas and what to do with limited funds and first without Dad.Refuse to go into further debt. Anyway Mum is shouting us to Christmas lunch at a restaurant for something different.Pretty much figured out presents for less closer family. A couple of little things for Mum. DD for who is officially unemployed now gets a clutch for her car,standard response to any other requests is now "get a job".She is doing very well at her dancing and is training to be a teacher but that is a few years yet and will need something to support herself. I think it's important socially as well. Anyway she saw the TAFE careers advisor for help with her resume and found out the TAFE employ people as reader writer for those not capable themselves. She did this at school so has experience. Have also applied at work for an 18 month position, flex I time so she could fit in dancing. But this will also take time to see if she gets to the next stage, so something casual over the holidays would definitely help.Keep feeling I've got a million things to do and don't know where to start. So back to making a list and ticking things off slowly Work is crazy before Christmas, worse than full moon, oh well only 4 and a half more days of it, then shutdown till the New Year.

Holed up at home with a virus. Have had a sore throat since Sunday, the aches and pains have gone, but very tired still, back to doctor today as certificate ran out yesterday.Perfect knitting weather and I can't seem to stick with it. Only 2/3 of another cushion side done in 2 days

A Corner

So I decided on a cushion with rectangular sides. Being one who hates sewing things up had to figure a way to do the corners. On the first side I picked up the stitches and when it came to connecting to the other piece I picked up the stitches on the second piece at the same time as knitting a row effectively knitting them together then cast off. Second side picked up stitches again and when got the corner picked up a stitch from the existing side to join them. From then on when reaching the corner I slipped the last stitch and picked up again on the existing side and slipped the slipped stitch over it and wallah a corner all connected. Not bad for a day when my attention span seemed to last about 5 seconds. Eg. Went into town to the library, left the library card at home came back to get, went into the library and had left the card in the car. Sure my Mum must think I'm losing the plot sometimes.

Been pretty stressed about my car, which has cost quite a bit lately. Is 7 years old but not yet 100k on the clock and been serviced regularly to avoid the very situation we've just had to endure. Three times back to the dealer to find the issues,in the end with the service manager looking after it personally. With instructions not to give it back till it was right, still things we had to do that should have been done by them. Stuff that I had brought up years ago that probably could have been fixed under warranty,and now I've had to pay for, not impressed .

I have decided to concentrate on some UFO. A baby blanket which I've now decided to do as a cushion , the throw I found more yarn for. Then i'll see how I go from there. Do have another throw in the works but it can be long term, for when we eventually repaint and get a new lounge. I did pick up a bargain at Lincraft last weekend, some silk Plus for $2.24 per ball and last year's run which seems much nicer than the current stuff. 10 balls in a pack just waiting for the Burnham Wood Capelet

Been thinking of doing some Amigurumi for a while. After procrastinating over it for a few weeks and trolling through Ravelry, got the courage to start Snoopy.

I did complete the throw, but trying to tidy the stash I have found enough balls of yarn to make it a bit bigger. So it's WIP again.

This yarn was originally for a throw, then had a not so bright idea to make a draped front vest. The yarn was too heavy and the weight made it pull terribly at the shoulders, so I frogged it back to about 20 cm. It has sat for over a year and then a few girls at work were making blankets, so I pulled out again and started on a throw, pretty quick as doing on 10mm needles.

Still going on squares for Knit a square, up to 26 now. Still enjoying some crochet, think it also coming back in popularity, as could not get any mid size hooks at Big W or Spotlight last week.

So not being in the mood for anything complicated I have been knitting and crocheting squares for Knit a Square. Have been teaching myself different crochet stitches, have to say it's quicker than knitting. Only trouble was getting gauge, so have ended making a vest as well.

Really not in the mood to knit. Probably a lot to do with having a new toy. Spent the weekend getting my Internet connection to be wireless around the house in preparation for the arrival of my Tablet PC from which I'm am posting from on the lounge. I chose the Asus Transformer mainly because it felt better to hold than the Motorola Zoom or Acer Aconia. Have an Acer Laptop and not impressed. Ended up buying online from Hong Kong as tablet plus docking keyboard were the same price as just the tablet here in Oz. All instructions are in Chinese but as I have Android phone have no problems at all working it. Looking forward to being able to have knitting patterns on it.

Did finish my daughter's hoodie - well nearly she took it before I could put a pocket on or put a band on the hood.

Sad Times

Have not been here for awhile my Dear Dad was admitted to hospital the day before my last post. Sadly he passed last Monday after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 weeks before.

Time has been taken with visits to the hospital and making the final arrangements.We had a lovely service yesterday despite the weather and have received some wonderful support from friends and family, which has been of great comfort.

I would like to mention the wonderful staff at Nepean Hospital who looked after him so well for which I will be eternally grateful.

The Leyburns have been put on the back burner as require some thought, replaced by a hoodie in the round in stocking stitch for my daughter, which I feel ready to pick up again.

Happy Mother's Day everyone. Unfortunately most of mine was spent visiting my Dad in hospital. His legs failed him yesterday. Seems it is his heart failing. He has had bad swelling the ankles, but we keep getting told that his blood pressure and heart beat are of a 20 year old, so didn't put it down to this. But apparently you can have a good beat and blood pressure and still have heart problems. Hopefully they will work out some meds and he should be back to normal or better, but a few more days of testing.

Meanwhile have started Leyburns.

What a lovely surprise to get home on Sunday after working 7 days straight and find a message for me a Ravelry to say I'd won the first round of the Super Special Six Pattern Sock Club 2011 prize. I'd totally forgotten about the prize draw. So here it is from Ailsa at Knitabulous. I was thrilled that it was a solid colour, have been hanging out for some good quality solid colour yarn, but have been very strong. I love it! Think it will be destined for a Cookie A pattern.

I was saving my birthday and Christmas money ( and money from doing online surveys) for a E-Reader. The Sony one I want ran out of stock just after release and there's no definite date for more to arrive in the country. So I weakened with Angus & Roberton's recent 30% off sale and bought these.

Bit disappointed with the Knit & Wrap, a lot of very chunky stuff, nice but no way I could wear it.

Hot and Muggy and Dugald is not impressed, rain keeps threatening but not happening.

Nearly finished sleepy bears but put it down to start Nutkins for Super Special Six Pattern Sock Club 2011 and also had to wait for some cotton to arrive.

Up to the toe on first Nutkin , they are turning out really small on 2.5mm with Spotlight Noir, so will have to a present. Only did 6 repeats of pattern before heel to keep the leg short enough. Like the pattern, it's easy and looks like cable. Doing lots of OT and feeling a bit off colour, so slow progress all round.

Getting there, mostly half stitch and backstitch to go.

Well DD got the sack this week from her new job at Hungry Jacks. She had done about 4 or shifts with them. She was rostered on for this Sunday and found out she had to attend a dance seminar, so I advised her to give them plenty of notice so they could find a replacement, so she called last Tuesday and was promptly advised not to come back. We weren't too disappointed as after 2 weeks it was becoming quite apparent that Hungry Jacks reputation as being really bad to work for is well earnt. I just mad at myself for not letting her leave TAFE early to go for an interview at Coles. There was a group interview as Coles are doing some changes and a big recruitment drive. I thought she give Hungry Jacks a go for a few months and didn't want her to get behind at TAFE this early on. DOH

While I can understand they wouldn't be impressed with her cancelling a shift, but I thought this was harsh, as she knew there people who could have covered for her. What would they prefer she call up the same day and give them no notice. It can't be very cost effective to hire and fire like this. I was not impressed on Saturday night when nobody could spare a few minutes of their time to make sure she was picked up Ok after her shift finished at midnight, they finished about 15 minutes early and we were already on our way. But no, left a 16 yr old girl alone in the dark at midnight, so I just kept her on the phone. Well there must be better just around the corner.

A Reprieve and Letting go a little

Well today's birthday party has been cancelled due to illness as the family has been struck with a gastro virus- not good. Which means I some more time to finish Sleepy Bears, have not done too much this week as returned to work.

DD started TAFE this week and formed a little group within a day. Then I get the news on Tuesday she accepted a lift home from an 18 year boy she had known for a day. She did ring her father to ask permission and he said it was OK as he trusts her opinion.
But I was slightly more freaked out having been a 16 year old girl and knowing the most sensible of us, sometimes do dumb things. Anyway she made it home fine and was thought he was a good driver. I told her I wasn't impressed and we had a talk and I feel more comfortable about things. I've known where this child has been nearly 24-7 for the last sixteen and a half years, this letting go is stressful.

And the complete turnaround in attitude from just cruising along, to taking on heaps of things at once that are going to require maximum effort. She has been feeling a bit nauseous, think it is the changes, she seems to react that way to change. Thankfully she is really sensible eater, just have to make sure she gets enough sleep. Think that goes for me too, being a worry wart at the moment

Cross Stitch coming along well although I've discovered that it's the possible cause of sharp breast pains. First got this a couple of years ago. Had an ultrasound and all clear and after a few weeks didn't get it again except for a very occasional twinge.
Well it was back last week and early this week with avengence and seemed to be worst when sitting down. I though back what was I doing two years ago, I worked on cross stitch every day for about 3 months. What I am doing know, a lot of cross stitch, I've slowed right down and tried to sit up straight and not scrunch over the chart, and no pain. Feel much better, but will still go and have another ultrasound as suggested by the Dr to be sure. Can't load any progress pics as the stupid computer has decided not to recognise anything plugged in via USB.

Now what did I say....

Oh yes was saying had started this x stitch years ago probably just before the knitting bug really hit. Pulled it out this time last year as my BF had her baby, think I persevered with it but got bored and knitting took over. Pulled out again last week as little Lauren's birthday party on the 12th Feb, and who knows might get it done , gives me something to work to. Was getting put off by the amount of back stitch so thought I would get a start on it and do what I had completed in x stitch so far. Guess What? I'm enjoying the back stitch more than the x stitches, faster and have really bought the piece to life. I have bears instead of blobs.

Oh yes, Happy Australia Day, I've been a party pooper, too hot, got to 40c here today. Perfect excuse to stay inside and stitch

A bit of time off

Have a 4 and half day weekend and then only have to go back to work for 1 day then a week and half off. Most of it will be getting DD organised for this year. She did quite well in her School Certificate but is determine not to go back and do her HSC at school.

The original plan was to go to TAFE and do a Certificate in massage and then go on to do the Diploma. She is on standby for the massage course so we had to look at other options in case she doesn't get in. So yesterday we went and saw the TAFE counsellor.
There is no issue with doing the HSC at TAFE and the counsellor also suggested that she do a Business Admin course in medical so she could look at doing reception at a physio practice or the like, she has 18 months to fill in if she goes straight into applying for the diploma Massage Course. Now it's just getting her a part-time job.

Shur'tugal Socks completed on the 19th. I like them but have made a promise to myself any more sock yarn purchases will be in solid colours. the last few pairs of socks I have made have been quite heavily patterned and it's been getting lost in the colour variations. Have to work from stash so will have to try and deal with at the moment. Unfortunately they are not as bright blue as in picture.

Dugald had eye surgery to remove extra eyelashes and fix some entropion has recovered well but has lost pigment on his eyelids where they froze the eyelashes off, so now he looks like he has got sore eyes when he doesn't...hmmmm.

Getting back to the sleepy bears cross, the little girl it's for has her 1st birthday party in two and half weeks, not sure I'll make it though.

Post that is.... had a quiet Christmas. Snow Hats arrived safely in UK and are being appreciated in the weather.

Went up to Patonga on New Years Eve and met DD's god parents for lunch, very hot but would have been worse here, nice shady picnic area to sit in. DH's Mum's family had a house there until about 8 years ago when it was sold after both grandparents passed away, considered it his true home and still upset by it's lose. His great Grandfather bought land when it was first released.

Damaste Socks completed in time to give to my niece, ended up being in unknown black acrylic as the Elle DK Gold was a bit thick.

Can I Stop and Breathe Yet?

The Year 10 Social went off well and the end of Year Dance Concert. DD very pleased with all. She helped teach some Baby Boppers this year and worked very hard on a solo routine which brought me to tears.

So just getting through the work stuff and 2 Christmas parties next Saturday to go.

Shopping well have been avoiding it, finances are tight and really don't want to buy on credit so trying of thinking of low cost but nice presents. That's where knitting comes in and cooking I think. Did buy some Billie G Cookie dough and Christmas cake mix which should arrive by Friday. One of my team at work's little 4 year old girl recently got diagnosed with leukaemia so we did a fund Raiser for Red Kite as she said they most supportive with day to day things. So if you get the chance to donate to this cause please consider it. As for the cookie dough, it's GOOD.

Thinking of them daily as cannot image how hard it would be, sad news last week, even though little Jayde has improved heaps and had gone into remission early, the final news on the risk level came through as the highest level which is only one percent of cases caused by if I remember rightly a mutated chromosome. This news when she was getting back to her happy little self. The only sign had been a hard tummy. So if your the praying kind, if you could add a word in for little Jayde and her family.

DH got his licence back today YAY. Hopefully this will mean I won't be running back and forth so much between everyone and trying to make it all fit, I am so over it. He can get stuck into helping DD get her hours up for her licence.

Embossed Leaves Socks completed Monday night. Heel is quite different to what I'm used to with heel flap edging being garter stitch. It was easy to pick up stitches though along this edge. Pattern called for cutting the yarn once the heel was turned. Didn't like the idea of this at all so just knitted across the foot and continued across in pattern and made the required extra stitch at the end of patterned section with no issues at all. Toe was different as well ending up with only eight stitches which thread yarn through and pulled tight, nice not to have graft toe. I also learnt rib cast on, I was all fingers and thumbs and I reckon it took me two hours to cast on each sock but it's also a nice finish with the 1x1 twisted rib cuff.

Next socks will be for my brother. In the meantime have started Louet Snow Cap and hope to make 2 for my young 3rd cousins who are moving back to the UK from France. Given the weather we've seen in the news should come in handy. Have to get cracking though to get them there by Xmas.

Then I was going to do stirrup socks for my niece, but like the look of Namaste Socks a bit more fancy. Another Christmas present

Here But Not

Been on leave all of last week and been meaning to blog but didn't get there. Above more bird life passing through this spring. Think they are nesting in the vacant lot next door. Mum says they nest in trees unlike other ducks. That would be one big nest.

Finally finished my Noir Woodland socks , think getting to the heel on the first took a month or more. They were my work project and I think I was lucky to manage a row a day sometimes. Finally a few weeks ago got a chance to get stuck into them when I was off sick with an ear infection which gave me vertigo, concentrating on knitting seemed to ease the dizziness.

Have started Embossed Leaves Socks in Online Supersocke Cotton. This yarn is awesome for socks just throw in the wash, no felting, extremely hard wearing and comfy. Learnt 1x1 rib cast on from this pattern, took about 2 hours to get the knack of it. Very stretchy though and then twisted rib cuff, very neat finish.

My brother had major surgery early last week. After years of back pain and experiencing numbness in limbs he was found to have a tumour on his spine just below the brain. Fortunately it was very low grade, but they couldn't get it all without making him a parapelgic. The end results are sort of unknown, he may not see an improvement in his current symptoms, but should not get worse. If left he would have ended up with facial deformities and not being able to swallow. Pays to be persistent with these matters and listen to you body.

Red-browed Firetail Finch

About 20 or 30 of these grazing in the back yard this morning. The bird life has increased here quite a lot over the past few years. To the naked eye (and my short sight)these tiny birds looked just brown with odd flash of red. Thanks to 20x zoom I was able to capture how pretty they are.

Speaking of birds, went to see the Legend of the Guardians the animated owl movie. Beautifully animated and the 3D was fairly impressive, but something was lacking in the characters & story, was a bit disappointed. The little ones would probably like it.

Speaking of owls, really seriously thinking of frogging it, not completely, but just not happy and really want to be able to wear it. The buttons I bought off Ebay are perfect.

Working very slowly on some Noir socks and have picked up the baby blanket again, was thinking a cushion, now back to a blanket that I'll keep.

Borrowed Cookie A's Sock Innovation from the library and loved it, fortunately Angus & Robertson decided to have a 20% off sale and free postage, so the deal was done, just waiting for it to arrive.

Have since borrowed Knit So Fine can't decide if to buy it, like a few things in it. Also borrowed Knitted Jackets.I know they're jackets but they all seem so big, sure I would drown in most of them, so not so keen on this one.

Was very excited when I found my new phone reads pdf and html, can download all my knitting patterns onto it. It's a Garmin Asus, it also a full on SatNav.It's Android so have downloaded Mahjong, Pinball & bubbleburst and lost a fair bit of knitting time :-/ The 5 meg camera is also quite good

I'm a size 8 and though small to medium would allow for yard substitution, could have definitely gone up to medium , oh well might inspire me to lose the 4-5 kgs I've put on

The Garter Stitch Baby Cardigan is completed, took ages longer than I thought it would. It's is actually a plummy pink. Happy with it though , think it's cute looking like a little suit jacket. It was my first time doing pockets like this (knit the pocket inner, cast off same amount of stitches where required and next row knit along pocket inner where stitches were cast off) so simple and very neat (another wow that's so simple and cool knitting moment, like when I first did cable)

Just about finished another Meret. For my friend at work who gave it a couple of goes but gave up, didn't use proper stitch markers and got lost I think.

A little time to breathe.

Mum And DD have arrived in England safely. Dad is in respite not far away. So here I am a minute to myself Before starting all the chores and going to visit Dad, then pick up DH etc etc. And they're saying I'm on holiday - umph

This minus 3 and 4 degrees is not that pleasant. Mum will come come to some frost bitten plants. The tomatoes that self seeded haven't survived even though they are on the veranda.

Have completed the Beret de Printemps from the Knitist in Elle Pure Gold DK , won't have a pick as took it to work and a lady promptly bought it from me, I was happy to give it away, but she insisted on giving me some money. Would be better in wool than acrylic as will block, but apparently slouch is out so that wasn't an issue.

Will have to start a baby beanie as our friends have a new baby boy.

Trying to find something to do with some Patons Mist for myself in the form of a wrap.

Going to get washing on the line and some rays, play Tug or War with Dugald in the hope that he will be too tired to take the washing off the line

Should have a pair of socks completed in the next day of so. Picked some Noir up at Spotlight reduced to $4 from $14.95. Just plain stocking stitch but I need more socks and the colourway is very nice. Have done some socks in this yarn before and one sock
survived 3 days in the dog yarn (Dugald must have pinched it from the washing basket when I wasn't looking)it was very muddy but washed up fine and not a hole. Going back through my finished objects I estimate they are 2 years old and worn and machine washed nearly every week, so cannot fault the wear of this yarn.

Thinking I will concentrate on socks now, but then again with Electricity prices to sky rocket, Afghans could be the order for winter, might be time to tackle some WIP.

Have been very stressed at work, so much so my massage lady was scared to touch me due to the pain she would inflict trying to get the knots out of my shoulders. It did hurt but the headache I'd had for a week went. Need a follow up though all sorts of aches and pains have come out.

Scariest thing is my hands have tightened up and painful to bend. Thought this may have been as a result of a Wasabi Pea overdose. My addiction was to the point where
they weren't even hot anymore. On my last binge I woke up the next morning with really stiff hands and a sore swollen ankle. So not sure if there is anything in it, but I'm scared, I plan to knit for at least another 40 years, arthritis is just not an option. Will have to seriously start taking Apple Cider Vinegar & Honey every day.

The draped vest was all but completed and I realised it's just too heavy and pulls terribly at the shoulders so have mostly unpicked it and it's destined again to be a Afghan. Not all is lost I wrote up the pattern , my first attempt at this and hopefully it will easily adjust to a less bulky yarn.

DD's Jacket for the Royal just does not want the sleeves too fit and time is running out fast to have it completed. Don't have a plan B , so have to completed it by Wednesday night.

Haven't even started to feel like a routine is happening and it's nearly April.

Frogged the lacy socks, keep losing a stitch in the course of a round and have given up.

Started mapping out my idea for my drape vest. It's going to be chunky - raided the stash and found some cream bulky yarn to be worked on 10MM needles. It was originally destined to be an aran style afghan, but never quite made is past a few squares.

Spent most of the day in hospital yesterday with DD as she had her in grown toenails fixed on both feet. Spent this time figuring out the cable edging for the vest and have nearly completed it. Have cast on for the main body and will do a moss stitch border and plain stocking stitch body.

Sleepy Bears hasn't been touched.

Poor Dugald has been having terrible time teething, have had dogs forever but never had one suffer so badly with fevers and pain.

Mum is showing at the Royal Easter show this year and has friends coming from wide and far to stay with their dogs. As we're hoping the judge this year won't have been influenced as to who to award before they get here and have a fair chance of being honestly judged on the day. Given that - it's back to the sewing machine to finish a suit for my DD so she looks the part when in the ring.

No rest for the wicked as they say. Just wish I could remember when I had the time to be wicked

Life just seems to be speeding past and leaving everyone tired and weary. Not sure if it's the terrible humid weather we've had in Sydney that's contributing. Dugald knows how to keep cool though.

Have made a fair bit of progress on Sleepy Bears, but haven't touched it for about a week. Actually had the energy to get a fair bit of housework done last weekend, after hitting a brick wall with a possible virus last week. I think I've found a miracle cure Wasabe Peas. Ate nearly half a kg last over a few days and feel like a new person. Figured I'd burn the crap out of whatever was niggling at me.

Knitting , did pick up a lacy sock and did a few more rows of rib, so not even past the cuff yet.

Have been thinking knitting though, want to make a drape cardigan/vest type garment that are popular right now, so been looking for pattern without success. But have figured it's a basic rectangle construction, so will give it a go myself. Noni B
have one in store that has a plain body and cable pattern round the front and neck, it will require closer inspection. Knits seem to be really in this upcoming winter.

Also like the pattern on lady at works cardigan, it's like basketweave, but stocking stitch part is cabled, think I've worked out how to copy that as well.

Called the Community College yesterday as had no response to my email. They were very apologetic and I went down to get my refund for the Spinning Class. I have put my name down for next term. By all reports the college are usually very good with informing people about cancellations etc, so I will let it go. Have put the word out on Ravelry so maybe we will get some more numbers next term for the class to go ahead.

Well I went to enrol last Wednesday at Spinning Class at the local Community college, no probs. Been getting very excited about the propsect, it was s fairly big decision as it's a 70km round trip and I can't really afford it. But have been meaning to get Mum to try and teach for 12 mths and it hasn't happened. I feel like I owe it to Mandie at Ewe Give Me the Knits as she sent me the part to fix the wheel for free. Only a few dollars, but not the point. So I rocked up tonight "sorry we don't have one of those classes". Not the gentleman at school's fault at all. So feeling very P@#@#D and have sent a letter to the Principal of the college requesting a full refund & asking for compensation for my wasted trip.

Did start some lacy socks, but as per usual had about 3 false starts. I will do them. But now working on a baby sampler cross stitch for my friend's new baby. Little Lauren arrived on the 3rd Feb. The blanket is on hold because she got so many wraps at the baby shower, I figure I'll have to make it bed size to be of use.

Things have been hectic around here again. Dad fell over again and ended up back in hospital.They discovered pneumonia again and a small fracture between no. L2 & L3 in his lower back. The fracture was not serious but very painful. Thinks it's been 3 or 4 weeks now, time has become a blur. Last time I had time off , but have worked as well as trying to get in as many visits as possible. Mum and DD went to New Zealand for 6 days and I had to look after Mum's animals and try and keep the gardens alive in the dreadful dry heat. We also organised a new (well nearly) car for DH as the old ute was about to drop the gearbox all over the road. Unfortunately we got well and truly screwed with the finance. Can you believe some companies charge you $10.00 to make a loan repayment. There has been some definite breaches of the trade practices act by the finance broker and I am in the frame of mind to do something about it.

On a happy note DH is getting a puppy on the weekend. I have finished the shawl back shawl, it's a bit stiff even after blocking. Finished a pair of baby slippers and working on another which need to be completed by the 23rd. I have also made progress on the baby blanket. Pics next time

On my second attempt at crocheted picot edge to The Shawl Shrug. Then it will be complete.

Today I spend a couple of hours in waiting rooms and nearly have a baby slipper to show for it.

Dad is back in hospital, with a small fracture in his back and pneumonia again. All seems to be getting better, but it means a lot of running around. So not getting home till 7.30 - 8.00 each night after work. He is waiting for a place in rehab which is a bit further away. Have some time off end of next week which should make things a bit easier hopefully. Have to look after Mum's animals and gardens, but that's just next door. Mum & DD going to New Zealand for 6 days. It's a dog judging trip for Mum, but they are using it as a trial run. They hope to go to England next year together.

Have to say it's been a bit of a challenge due to the instructions being fairly bare-boned (if that's the expression). It's top down and basically you just keep going till you think you've reached the armholes, then do sleeves to desired lengths, either both at the same time on 2 circs or individually on dpns. Then go back and do the fronts and back together. You get given a cast on amount of stitches for an adult and child size , then it's up to you. I have made it to back & front and should be plain sailing from here as you just keep decreasing until you runs out of stitches. Then it's just a band all the way round (lot's of picking up stitches - uhh).This is my second attempt at lace and think it's not really going to look that lacy, probably more like a honeycomb texture, being acrylic yarn can't see it blocking out much. But hopefully will look nice over summer dresses. My second attempt at Adia is coming along slowly and again still not really that lacy even on needles 3 sizes bigger ,but may block out OK.

Found some Cotone ( a good substitute for Cara) at Lincraft Bankstown and they have a mailing service, so didn't even have to make the trek across town, and must say postage was really reasonable. Was impressed as they took my number and called me back at 5.30 on Tuesday afternoon took they order and package was at PO Thursday to collect. Seems they are the only store with any Cotone left as Lincraft will not be ordering anymore. Was also impressed with the Blacktown store as they bothered to find out which store had some in stock. So anyway Baby Blanket will be able to proceed. Did get some Cara from Ebay but not enough of different colours for the blanket. So will have a stash of it now.

Yes both managed to die on the same day. The desktop tower caught fire due to a faulty on switch, not much damage but was without it for 4 days. I think the lap top will be more terminal. Have been trying to find some Cara yarn or Carola as it's also known from Grundl. Have some, but not enough to make the blanket I want to. It seems it's probably discontinued and was one of those that got sold off in Spotlight a few years ago, it's only stashed about 3 times on Ravelry. There was some on Ebay, but more than I need and most really not the colours I'm after.

Finished Meret two weeks ago and made a trial run of Lion Brand's City Mouse , have now started on my version of it. Frogged Aida and have started again with bigger needles and less stitches, it actually does look like lace now, that's mainly a few rows a day work project though.

Life's been getting in the Way

With about 10 days off work and only a right front side band of rib to go on CPH. life took over and that's where it has been for about that 10 days.

Mum who turned 80 yesterday and Dad who is 89 caught a virus and got a chest infection , meanwhile Dad also fell over and with what we thought was a sprained ankle , was actually a fracture and he also developed pneumonia. So he had to spend 8 days in hospital and Mum is only just getting over the infection herself, so it has has meant a lot of running around to and fro from the hospital and running errands and just generally stressing. Thrown in the middle was a full weekend of Schipperke Club shows, and the judge and husband staying for a few days. Better guests I could not have hoped for which made things a lot easier.

Anyway it has all been for the positive for Mum and Dad, as Dad is now enrolled in a transitional care program, including physios, occup therapist and a social worker to get Dad hopefully more mobile than he has been for a while and now knowing what help can be provided for them in the future. Mum's 80th birthday went off just fine. So now I can relax a bit just in time to go back to work (yay - NOT).

Think I really do need to knit to help relax a bit more, housework is already 2 weeks behind, I'm sure it can wait till Monday.

Having a bit of a break from Knitting , still doing a few rows a day of Adia at work, but decided to read the first of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, as I'd heard people say they like it better Twilight. Well I have to say no and that it's probably not fair to even compare. Sure there is the vampire - romance angle, but it's written for adult audience, and a bit of murder mystery thrown in, a good quick read but not the epic the Twilight series is. So now have picked up Breaking Dawn again and 400 pages in so will finish this time as enjoying it, and appears Jacob hasn't done so badly after all.

Finished back on about the 19/7, but have been unable to get a suitable picture. It's a perfect fit, not quite as figure fattering as I thought it would be , although back when I started I would have described I was more shapely, and I think it really suits curves. But I love it anyway. Adia is progressing slowly. Crocheting a hippie type vest for my daughter as part of a dancing costume, it's quick, but I find crochet so boring, making it up as I go along , tried a downloaded pattern and couldn't get to work, so went back to the Reader's Digest Needlecraft book, chose a stitch type and have gone from there. Lifetime & Tax Time

I've done it ! Achieved Lifetime Membership at Weight Watchers with an official lose
of 19.1kgs. Now to maintain it:-/. And on to my treat to myself for this achievement -Twist and Shout. I decided to block the pieces before sewing together and doing collar. Soon as the yarn hit the water it was instantly softer, so it's going to be really snuggly. Hope to get onto sewing the pieces together this weekend.

Meanwhile a trip to the accountant landed me two days of solid homework & a fair bit of running around ,yukky but will beneficial. Have tried a new one this year and thank goodness, it seems we've been missing out on heaps and this one actually speaks in laymans terms. This is such a relief with hubby new to being a soletrader.
So a lose of knitting time should be well rewarded. But couldn't help but start Adia (twice, first time not wide enough and a niggly mistake). Using the Cashmere Blend in Tidal from Wired for Fibre. I used my voucher I won from Serendipity's bushfire appeal. It's wonderfully soft, part of the reason why I decided on a scarf and not socks. This also gives me a chance to try out some lace, got to first 12 rows on first attempt and was already in love with it, so had to frog to make it perfect.
Thanks again Ladies. I did make the terrible mistake of undoing the skein without having anything or anyone to help me wind it into a ball and spend two days unravelling the mess, lucky I like a good puzzle, but oh the wasted time

The Online SuperSocke Cotton socks are completed, very comfortable and go straight through the washing machine with no problem. I also has quite a lot of yard left , reckon I could get nearly kneehighs from one ball.

Back onto Twist and Shout, had to get back into the rythym of it, and thank goodness for the KAL on Ravelry, and I was a bit confused with the increases of the right front, but once I was clear about it off I went, have had to rip a few rows on a few times, but mainly a concentration issue. It's not too hard that I can't do a bit at work, and it would be quite a quick knit if you did in one go and get into the flow of it. Will take some pics, but need decent light to even give an idea of the purple shade and there's not much of that at the moment here. Back to it

What a beautiful day today, so good to see sun, I was actually getting quite down with the cold and wet, think because I was at home and noticed it more. One disadvantage of being slimmer, I'm feeling the cold. Went up the coast and visted my daughter's godparents and had lunch at Terrigal today and it was lovely.

Last night my friend had the opening of an exhibition of some of her painting at the Mars Hill Cafe in Parramatta, which was a nice evening.

Elliot (below) has been to the eye specialist and still not sure if the fleshy lump in the corner of his eye is due to injury from previously mentioned escapades or a tumor of a blood vessell, going with anti-infammatories for 2 weeks to see how it goes. Not that he is at all concerned about it, there's too much ball chasing to be done. Have hopefully now dog proofed the fences

Have picked up my double rib socks in Online Cotton, and only have to graft the toe of the 1st, then start on the second , feels good to get back to an UFO, and simple enough so I can take it to work to finish, if I don't before the weekend is out.

Managed to finally finish Eclipse, have had less than 100 pages for about 3 months to go. Have started New Moon but goodness know how long this will take for me to get through it , knitting takes priority.

Hoodie Finished

Hoodie was finished on Thursday and posted Friday, what should have been simple turned out to be a bit of a pain, I think doing the bottom in the round just complicated matters for myself instead of expediating it. Did not block it being acrylic, still not good at doing that I admit. Gave it a quick steam with the iron as the bottom edge was rolling, fixed that problem but don't know if it had an adverse affect on the fabric, it was a lot softer but also a bit droopy. This is what I get for rushing to an overdue deadline.

Started finishing off a cardigan that was in the things I got from my friend's mum. It just needed rib border done on one side of the front, originally had button holes, but I did another as for my Mum's friend who I will send it to, she tried it on when she visited and did not want buttons. Then just used the stitches from the top of each border and picked along the neckline and did about 10 rows of rib for the neck. I have no idea what the neck should have been like with no pattern as a guide, this was all I could easily think to do. So now will sew border (don't know how) to main body on each side of the front and that can get posted tomorrow too.

Will try not pick up anything else, or if I do make sure some thing simple which I can put back down. Have leave but so many things to catch up on. The dogs have been ripping holes in the chainwire fence to go and chase stray dogs or rabbits. So have to painstakingly wire the fence down to the pipe on the bottom at every chain, so they hopefully can't get a grip on it to pull on and crush it, think I've spend about 6 hours on it so far if not more and only about half way and the back is not happy about all the bending over. Then there's their night yard that doesn't have a pipe along the bottom only thick wire, which is just about destroyed, so it maybe a case of the leftover colourbond from the roof around that bit to stop them getting out. The other day they skinned the end of Mum's 19 year old cat's tail, which had to be cut off , fortunately she is still fit as a fiddle and came through the op fine, but it's a worry. And it's not like they don't have space they've got about a quarter of an acre to run in.

The house & car are a mess, with all the rain. Had our Schipperke specialty show today, so yesterday was cooking for lunch (after spending hours on the fence), we all take a plate and share after the presentation. I am trophy steward so Friday was wrapping all the prizes. Still wanting to catch up with a few friends all in different places of course. As well as try and cook up some casseroles and soups and freeze them to make life a bit easier when I go back to work. Need to have some xrays of my hips as they have been sore for a long time. And meant to be sewing a jacket for my daughter. And I was kinda thinking I might want to relax a bit and not have to run around all over the place - yeah right.
Oh well prioritise I think is the word

The Triumph Scarf , beanie for the same yarn, Fetching & Mistake Rib Socks were today given as gifts today to my daughter's Godparents who are off the Alaska. They seemed very pleased with them, her godfather not having got a beanie yet and godmother who had been looking for some thick socks and going to wear them on the plane. Such a good feeling when your knitting is appreciated and you hit the right mark with the type of gift.

Well my husband did ( find the Camera that is), under a pile of stuff here in the study, not impressed after literally driving round the countryside looking for it. We thought he might have taken some photos of a car he was working and left it in it when delivered back to the owner (old and forgetful both of us). Nothing really to take photos of. Working on the hooded vest nearly finished the body and will work on the hood tomorrow. Really need to get it done and in the post on Monday. Did have to frog a fair bit, tried to carry the yarn up and swap skeins every few rows to get a better pattern with the camo yarn, but it doesn't work well in the round I discovered. Have to admit to swapping a few times using knots to join the yarn.

Only real highlight of the week is getting within a kilo of my goal weight.

My daughter Rowie with legend Mark Skaife at the launch of the Sydney 500. Must say it looks like it's going to be a major event with heaps of other things going on as well as the racing. Tickets seem to be great value and cover public transport as well. Hubby has gone from saying "not another street race" to " I think I'll get a 3 days pass". Looks like that's our Family Christmas present sorted.

Can't Find my Camera

So haven't blogged for awhile, have resorted to using hubby's phone. So for FOs, the mistake rib socks , very soft and quishy, may have trouble parting with them. Some Fetchings on the same Spotlight Fun yarn but different colour ( with extra cable at wrist, and finished cable for finger edge), to go with socks . A beanie to go with the Triump Scarf, just made it up as a went along (and it actually worked) double rib with single cable every second lot of knit stitches just to add a bit abit of interest.

Have started on Carnival Hooded Vest for my Godson from the wool allergic family, only have about a week to get this done for his birthday , doing what I can in the round to hopefully expediate matters, at least it's stocking stitch , can mindlessly keep going round & round in the odd break at work.

And a picture of what I bought with my voucher from Wired for Fibre, Cashmere & Merino sock yarn, it's abit greener than the picture and oh so soft, have to find a special pattern for this.

Triumph Scarf Completed

Probably should have done an extra skein, but I figure 130cm in long enough, might make some matching mittens with the 2 skeins left. The scarf may shrink a bit as think it needs to be blocked.

Have started some socks in mistake rib using Spotlight Fun 50/50 wool/acrylic in 8ply hopefully a fast project and at least something I can do a bit at work. Still really like the mistake rib stitch and think will make a lovely thick squishy sock. This will be the second item for my daughter's godparents.

ps - diminishing rib cardigan will be frogged, will never be small enough for it to fit, will do again though

Had to do it , I now have 42 balls of Cleckheaton Country 12PLY (now discontinued) in a beautiful shade of purple, now to find projects to justify the purchase. Thinking Manon from Berocco, plus a cap & scarf and mittens with the leftovers, sounds justified to me :))

In the Fifties

Yes I made it under 60kgs this week, was quite a shock, as last week I was 2 days late for weight in due to being ill, and only registered 100gm lose, but to my amazement from Saturday to Thursday the WW scales registered 1.4kg lose, was totally shocked, but extremely pleased as you can imagine, 3.8 kgs to a healthy weight range.

Just to let you know I am only 4'11" so have the pleasure of being in the 44-56kgs healthy weight range, bout the only thing I don't like about being short, apart from not being able to eat much. Who knows I might even post a picture of myself when I get to goal in Twist & Shout ( my goal & birthday present to myself).

Bought another 10 balls of country 12ply in the purple , had to use Ebay again , but not to worry still has been a bargain and I absolutely love the colour , have been scouring Ravlery for more patterns to use the leftovers on. Notice the seller has more in the same dyelot very tempted to stash up on it, as couldn't find any elsewhere and don't even know if Country 12 ply is being continued. Have to say I visited two of my local Spotlight Stores last weekend and the yarn situation was very poorly.

Did put Twist and Shout down , but did cast on for one of the front pieces first. Plugging away at the Triump Scarf, had to frog it a bit as made an error, there is still an error in it still but too far back to frog and I think really only a knitter would notice the cable going in the wrong direction, I can live with it. Trying to achieve the 16 rows of the pattern a day mainly so I know where I am at when I pick it up. Forgot to write it down when I left it and took awhile to work out where I was up to.

On a final note knitting has helped me lose weight, I've been inspired by wanting to make & fit into lovely "little" cardigans. Cheaper to knit as well. I think blogging has too, before I started this blog I didn't finish many projects, now I finish nearly everything and my weight is another project I will complete.

The back for Twist and Shout is nearly complete , didn't mean to start it till the Triumph scarf was completed, but can't put it down, it's much easier than expected. Going to run short of yarn, as the meterage is way shorter than recommended yarn. Ebay seller has another ten balls in same dyelot and I think Spotlight had some in their clearance for a $1 a ball , may still be there. Have to check it out Saturday, not up to it today. Still not feeling well , the headachey stage of a throat infection, hence the time I've had to knit, not going to work.

Will stop at the back and pick up Triumph Scarf again ... I will

Like the way Triumph Scarf is coming along , have got the abbreviations down pat, but still have to refer to the pattern for rows. Not even a quarter way there , can feel it starting to drag, even with having 2 days off sick, maybe it's that I'm not feeling well.

Have gone down a needle size for the tension square for Twist and Shout requires one for both stockinette & rib. Still to do the rib one. This will be the hardest thing garment I'll have attempted, so doing all the proper preparation.

That I was supposed to be knitting a scarf for my daughter's godfather and socks for her godmother as they are going to Alaska and the other set of godparents have had knitted gifts for holidays in cold destinations to have to catch up.

Started the Triumph Scarf in Lana Liza Leo a nice soft Alpaca/Linen/Wool/Polyamide blend in grey, not spun very tight so could show up the cables a bit better, but softness makes up for this. Not going to be a fast knit as have to follow the 16 row pattern closely. But love how the cables develop.

Started the tension square for Twist & Shout at work, hope it works out Ok , I'm so loving the way the cleckheaton yarn is knitting up and the colour is just the perfect purple

To Finish, Hibernate or Frog

I'm up to the sleeves on the Diminishing Rib Cardigan , it is very small (my fault I'm very short waisted and tried to shorten it along the way, which turns out with this yarn probably not necessary) So the dilemma , should I frog and do exact to pattern , this means frogging about 2 thirds of it. Do I wait and hibernate it till I'm at my goal weight, about 9 kgs away, it may fit perfectly and will only have a day or so to finish it. Do I take the risk and finish it off and have the possibility of having to frog it anyway. It's not going to look like the original pattern I know but to me it's cosier, the yarn I would have normally thought pretty ugly, but just drawn to it and this pattern together. I have enjoyed doing it so far, has been quick and taught me new techiques, tubular Cast On & Off.

VP Bag Finished , another project started

Finished and waiting to for a few gifts to placed inside and then mailed to a hopefully happy recipient.

My friend's Mum decided to get rid of her knitting stuff as she is now a keen quilter, all circa 70s & 80s. A half finished cardigan I assume (not quite sure what it was) , partly made with this Panda Astro, I frogged the cardigan as the yarn called me to make into The Diminishing Rib Cardigan from the latest Interweave Knits. I even made a swatch for tension and it seems to be right on. The yarn is mostly Acrylic , but has a tiny bit of mohair. It is nice and soft (a pleasure after the VP Bag) and hopefully will have a nice drape to it. I've done my first tubular cast on and Icord edging, so it's already been a successful learning experience. It's worked from the top down and in one piece, hopefully will be a fairly quick knit on 5mm needles

VP Bag Progress

The VP Bag (very pink or purple - or this case both) is progressing slowly. Had trouble with the mistake rib as didn't seen to work from the instructions. Luckily the picture of the bag with the pattern was very clear and I figured it out from there.Have to have a pair of socks done in this stitch. The bag is a bit hard on the fingers and not fast being acrylic and done in needles .75 to 1mm less than recommended size. But a good stash buster and the fabric is really sturdy. Had planned two bags , but rethinking that. Hoping my 3 year old god daughter will like this one.

The online socks came to a halt at heel turning , have to sit down and figure out how many stitches to work in first short row. The bag became a priority having birthday deadline.

Think I have found some yarn for Twist & Shout (Knitty Fall 2008), my planned present to myself when I reach goal weight. There is some Cleckheaton Country 12ply on Ebay for $2.50 per ball , and it's purple, cause it just has to be purple:-). This would make it very affordable as well.

Still basically on one income , hubby has decided to go it alone with vehicle restoration , has about six months worth of work lined up. But things need to be bought to get the work done and income definitely won't be regular. But he is happier than he has been in a long time, and he's not a bad house husband, so I'm happier too.

Thank goodness for the rain here , but spare A thought for those who are flooded out in Northern NSW & QLD. Glad to be geographically in the middle of the North & South of the country at the moment.

Also hear the radio station Nova FM is collecting blankets for victims and will come & collect lots of 50 or more. Or can be given to their on road promotional vehicle that travels around.

Our hearts go out to victims of the bushfires in Victoria, it's truly incomprehensible the magnitude of this disaster. It just looks like a nuclear bomb has gone off. So many people lost and it appears due to arson. Whole towns wiped from the face of the earth. So many people homeless.

I live in a bush fire zone , and even though we've not had a fire through here in the 40 years we've been here, with temperature at 43c on Sunday and everything so scorched and dry from 3 weeks of extreme heat, it smelt and felt like the grass could self combust at any time , just a carelessly thrown cigarette butt and all hell could break lose. Time to get onto council as they do nothing along our road to reduce fire danger. We have done the right thing and not illegally cleared the trees off our land , but now have a situation of having so many dead trees from the drought. We are not allowed to burn off , there is so much red tape to get one through the Bush Fire Brigade and our last request got ignored, it makes me very nervous. Our house being only a few years old had to pass bush fire regulations, we have a 40000 litre concrete water tank with diesel pump and fire hose, but a situation like Victoria , this would not amount to much help. I love the rain we're having so much right now.

Spent today worrying about my daughter, who started at new school today for year 9 and didn't know anyone. She was at her last school since Kindy. All turned out OK, a girl she used to go to after school care with a few years ago, started today as well. So they hung out together. She has figured who the mean girls are already, so knows who to avoid. She likes the teacher she has met and says most of the kids are nice .Phew - so did not want to be the big mean Mummy who took her away from her friends and a good school and cause her pain.

She is actually going to catch a bus home tomorrow, a first as well, think I'll still be worrying tomorrow. She is so much braver than I was at her age.

Magic Stripes

Just not impressed with Magic Stripes, frogged sock, just doesn't knit up neatly. And was an ugly colourway as well, liquorice allsort colours, pink, orange, green with dark grey, would have forgiven that if it had knitted up well.

Got some Online Supersocke Cotton out from the stash , and doing a simple double rib using 2.75mm , very nice and soft knitting up neatly and can knit at work without much thought, looking forward to wearing these.

Another over 35c day today, becoming the norm. We've just spotted a red belly black on the front verandah, first snake this summer and hopefully the last

Well think I've satisfied my fetching fetish for now. Love the black ones , even though they are a cheap acrylic. Modified them from suggestions from the Fetching Ravelry Group. They are for my friend who says she has average to large hands and from all comments the original pattern is quite small, which would appear to be so, as the Patons Tweed DK one's are just right for me and I do have small hands. I added an extra row of cable at the wrist , four rows of 4x1 rib before the thumb and completed the cable be fore doing the picot castoff. This seems to prevent the rolling with a flatter neater finish. A lot of people said they didn't like picot castoff, but I find it very appealing and one of the things that draw me the pattern. Will definitely do some more, royal purple yarn from Biggan I think for daughter and I. That will have to wait still on one income, so stash busting is the only yarn option at the moment. Thinking of making matching socks.

What now, maybe back to Magic Stripe Socks, or start a cable scarf.

Love Love this pattern (Knitty - Summer 2006) unfortunately did not quite have enough yarn to complete mittens to match the Road Scarf, but wanted some so badly.So an abbreviated version was completed , few rows missing and only a hole for the thumb.

Now working on a version in Patons Tweed, which maybe a bit small for anyone but me (really sad about that).Then I want to make some my friend in Black and some how I don't think it will stop there.

Happy New Year everyone, hope it's turns out good for you.

The Road Scarf is completed , and an attempt at blocking being made, given the 12 different stitch panels, had no choice really. Original pattern asks for repeat of four stitches, but I thought I take the opportunity out to try some more. Stitches include Basketweave, Simple Seed, Double Rickrack, Hazelnut, Drop Stitch, Diamond Seed, Ridge, Chevron Seed, Moss, Network, Mesh & Sugar Cube. Yarn Elle Tweed Aran from a discount store , nice and soft even if only 20% wool. Not sure how will block given wool content. Is a stash buster, just under a skein left, will attempt to get some short fingerless mittens out of it.

Shock horror also finished a blouse I was sewing for my Mum, only took me about 12 months.
